三月的消費者信心指數暴跌

美國經濟諮詢委員會消費者研究中心今天發表的數據指出,消費者信心指數在三月份急遽下降.

消費者物價指數從二月的72下跌至目前的63.4. 現況指數則從33.8上升至36.9. 預期指數則從97.5下跌至81.1.

經紀諮詢委員會消費者研究中心的主任Lynn Franco表示, “預期指數急跌引起了信心指數也急跌. 三月份消費者對預期通膨顯著的上升和預期收入這兩項可能將會影響他們消費的意願.”

Franco 補充, “另ㄧ方面, 消費者對現況的評估有進步, 這表示即使短期來看還不明確, 整體經濟仍然在發展中.”

Consumer confidence fell sharply in March, according to data released today by The Conference Board Consumer Research Center.

The index now stands at 63.4, down from 72 in February. The Present Situation Index improved to 36.9 from 33.8. The Expectations Index decreased to 81.1 from 97.5 last month.

"The sharp decline in confidence was prompted by a sharp decline in expectations. Consumers' inflation expectations rose significantly in March and their income expectations soured, a combination that will likely impact spending decisions," Lynn Franco, director of The Conference Board Consumer Research Center, said in a statement.

"On the other hand, consumers' assessment of current conditions improved, indicating that while the short-term future may be uncertain, the economy continues to expand," Franco added.
