Lifeline's material costs over the past several months have risen sha'ply and this has translated into the current battery price increase , Our largest material purchases are lead and lead oxide .The price of lead is set on the open market on the London Metal Exchange or LME .Lead consumers globally pay the current LME price plus a cap( or adjustment)to pay dealers and alloy costs , The LME price for lead 4 months ago on 10/17/06 was $1,580 per Metric Ton , or $.7167 per pound .The closing price for lead on 2/26/07 was $2,000 per metric Tan, of $.9072 per pound .The daily closing LME prices can be viewed at http://www.lme.co.uk/dataprices_pricegraphs.asp.The current lead price has increased more than 26% from mid-October. Additionally , we use a substantial amount of tin in our alloys . Tin closed on the LME at $4.7038/lb on 10/15/06 and was up to $6.21/lb on 2/26/07. This represents and increase of more than 32%. Unfortunately , increases over the last several months in these commodities cannot be absorbed by Lifeline Batteries. Lifeline’s prices effective 4/1/07 reflect on LME price of $,8105. Further increases may be necessary if the LME moves above that level.
